Our Steps Towards a Sustainable Future

Waste Reduction:

Our first step in becoming "green" was diverting over 80% of our office waste out of landfills and allowing them to be recycled with Pacific Coast Waste and Recycling.

Employee Metro Program:

Recently we began challenging our employees to take public transportation to work. Trackstar Printing reimburses the employee 50% of the fare . We took this initiative in order to cut down on the carbon emissions our company causes because of our employees driving to work.

Paper:

As a standard we use paper with a minimum 30% Post Consumer Waste, PCW, content unless our customer has a specific request. This is better than  "recycled" because the PCW has been through an entire product lifecycle and is looping around again. "Recycled" paper typically is made from scraps at the paper mill or what is cut away during the final trims.

Inks and Coatings:

We use only the most environmental inks for the job at hand. On our digital machines we use Dry Toner Ink which produces negligible amounts of VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds). On our offset presses we use only soy based inks which keep the amount of VOC's well below the industry standard for this type of printing. We offer a wide variety of coatings on our products including matte, satin, and gloss. These are water based which allows the product to still be recycled once in the hands of the consumer.

We take a proactive approach at greening our industry. By partnering with unique vendors and organizations, and by offering nearly ever paper product on 100% recycled paper we are helping to change the face of an industry based on consumption. Producing paper from recycled content uses 65% less energy, 80% less water, and produces 95% less pollution than paper from virgin tree pulp.
